Process Description
The Digestive System is a system that takes the nutrients out of food and uses it to give the person energy from the calories. First, the Mouth and Throat chews up the and gets mixed with saliva. Then it goes into the esophagus. The esophagus is a 10” inch long tube that goes from the throat to the stomach. It has two rings of muscles attached to it. The stomach area churns and melts the food with acids. Gastric juice is used in the acid used in the stomach. The intestines are tubes that take out all the nutrients from the food. Both intestines together are 25 ft long. The anus and rectum eliminate the food. The waste product is called feces. The rectum is a 5 in long tube. The anus is a ring of muscles that lets out the feces.
